Edible Health are a supplement company entirely focused on producing effective, easy to use collagen products. When they started, they aimed to ‘create something that is accessible and appropriate for any diet, ethos, religion, intolerance or allergy’. They now offer a select range of powders, including bovine collagen, marine collagen, digestive enzyme collagen and anti-ageing collagen.
I’ve just finished a tub of their Bovine Collagen Premium Protein Powder containing collagen types I and III. I’ve used collagen powders and drink products regularly for the last couple of years, but I’ve not used Edible Health before, so I was keen to give it a try.
First Impressions
When I first received this tub of collagen, I was impressed with the presentation and all the relevant information included on the label. When I began to dig further and explore the Edible Health website, I could immediately see that they’re a genuine company who’ve spared no expense to ensure that their product stands out in terms of quality and useful effects.
In the tub you get 400g of 100% collagen peptides with no flavours, additives or additional ingredients. One serving is about two tablespoons and provides 13g of collagen, which is the largest serving of any product I’ve seen or tried so far. You get thirty of these servings from one tub, so it should last you for about a month.
The powder is free from GMO, gluten, whey, dairy, soy, nuts, pesticides, heavy metals, steroids, antibiotics and hormones. It’s also kosher, halal and suitable for paleo and keto diets. Because it’s made with beef products, it’s not suitable for vegans or vegetarians.
Many of the brands I look at daily make excessive misleading claims without backing them up. Edible Health is quite the opposite; any claims they make are backed up by evidence, and they’re happy to provide further details should you need them. They’re refreshingly honest and make it clear that not everyone will immediately see visible results, and the effects vary from person to person. Also, they’re so confident in what they’ve produced that if you’re not completely satisfied with their products, they offer a complete refund.

Who are Edible Health?
Edible Health was established in 2016 by partners Corinna and Simon. They’d both spent many years using supplements and trying diets before they discovered the power of collagen. When the opportunity arrived to start their own collagen company, they jumped at the chance and knew that they could harness what they’d learnt from bad experiences, with poorly made supplements they’d seen previously, to create something that would stand out from the crowd. They believe there is much more to their business than making money and are guided by their four key principles of ‘quality, trust, credibility and people’.
Edible Health’s Bovine Collagen has been a consistent hit since its release and was the #1 Amazon bestseller in 2017, 2018 and 2019. All their products are made of hydrolysed collagen, which has been broken down into smaller molecules ready for use in your body. Their cutting-edge enzymatic process doesn’t’ require chemicals and produces peptides with a very low molecular weight meaning more are contained in a smaller area. As a result, you get more for your money than with most other products.
Awards and Certifications
Edible Health has ensured that all the necessary processes and ingredients have the relative certification. This powder is certified as Halal by The Islamic Dissemination Centre for Latin America (CDIAL). This means that they only obtain cowhides and skin according to Islamic rules under the supervision of a representative of CDIAL.
They also have certification to verify that their products comply with EU regulations and are free from antibiotics and components that are carcinogenic, mutagenic or toxic for reproduction (CMR). The original documents for these certifications aren’t published on the Edible Health website, but you can request to view them via their contact page.
I received a copy of the certificates and they showed the results of an extremely detailed, third-party contaminant analysis. They tested for several substances, including heavy metals, bacteria and antibiotics; no contaminants were detected.
Ease of Use
The plastic tub feels solid and comes with a large lid so you can easily access the powder to scoop it out when you need it. There is lots of information on the label, including details on how to serve the powder. However, the recommended serving on the label only states 13g, so I had to revisit the website to find the recommendation of ‘approximately 1-2 level tablespoons, depending on the size of your spoon!’ This works for me, but I prefer to know I’m getting the precise serving, so I would much prefer to have a small serving scoop included in the packaging.
The powder has a fine texture and quickly forms a liquid with no lumps. In fact, it absorbed better than any collagen I’ve used previously. If you try really hard, you can detect a very faint powdery texture if you use a thin liquid like water. The beauty of this powder is that it can genuinely be mixed with any foods or drinks. Most protein or collagen supplements change the texture of the product you add it to, but this one blends so easily, you’ll likely forget it’s there.
I would have awarded a higher score if: there was a precisely measured serving scoop in the tub.
Edible Health responded to this and said;
“We have sold over 150,000 tubs now and that would mean 150,000 scoops potentially in bins. It’s almost impossible to find truly eco scoops and, whilst we understand that people might like a scoop, the most eco-friendly option is for people to use their own spoons at home. No additional resources are required and a quick rinse under the tap is all that’s needed.”

Taste
The flavour of this powder completely blew my mind. It’s genuinely tasteless! Every bovine collagen product I’ve ever tried has a slightly bitter, gelatinous aftertaste, but not this one. I’ve read some reviews from other customers saying that it was bitter and didn’t dissolve well, but that wasn’t my experience at all. During the month I was using it, I alternated between just adding it to a glass of water to mixing it with juice in the morning. In both cases, there were no noticeable additional flavours.
Effectiveness
I’ve been using the powder for a month, and I have definitely seen an improvement in my skin quality. However, I’ve had several other lifestyle changes during this time that could also be playing a role. With collagen, it’s hard to say exactly what the effects are because it plays such a crucial role throughout your body. I was impressed to read the detailed information on the Edible Health website that goes into great detail about where you might notice results and what might be happening if you don’t see any.
I would have awarded a higher score if: There were more obvious effects.
Value for Money
Currently, you can get a 400g tub of Edible Health’s Bovine Collagen for between £17 and £22. That works out at about 66p per serving and 5p per gram of collagen. This isn’t the cheapest collagen available in the UK, but you’re getting 100% bovine peptides made to an impressively high standard. The quality assurances made by Edible Health genuinely add to the value of this product; you can see all relevant certification on request and they’re happy to provide a refund if you’re not satisfied.
