Hemptouch has created an award-winning skincare range. Each product combines a top-quality, full-spectrum hemp extract with a blend of incredible natural substances. The CBD present in the extract acts as a moisturiser while reducing oiliness and soothing irritation.
The characteristics of the CBD makes the balancing face cream perfect for either combination or oily skin. Placed third for an innovation award in 2019’s Hemp Product of the Year it is highly regarded and often receives excellent reviews. The simple packaging looks professional and immediately gives the impression of a well-designed product.
Who is Hemptouch?
Specialising in topical CBD products, Hemptouch is a family run company based in Slovenia. All of their products are produced from fully traceable ingredients, and every stage of the farming and manufacturing process is reported on in detail to ensure complete transparency.
Co-founders Silvija Špehar and Marko Sladič launched their company when they saw the potential of CBD skincare. They believe that hemp is a natural powerhouse and can be the perfect complement to any skincare regime. Following the company launch in 2014, they started to match high-quality CBD with other organic ingredients; their blends soon developed a loyal following throughout Europe.
What is CBD?
CBD is one of many cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant. It can interact with your body and provides a range of health benefits. Manufacturers legally extract CBD from cannabis varieties called hemp; they contain less than 0.3% THC and won’t get you high. The hemp extract also contains traces of fatty acids and plant nutrients that help to nourish and moisturise your skin.
Natural Ingredients and Lab Analysis
Hemptouch Balancing Face Cream contains full spectrum CBD mixed with other beneficial ingredients, such as essential oils, hemp hydrolate, algae chlorella and Orange Blossom Hydrolat. Hemp hydrolate is an alternative form of hemp extract with molecules that are small enough to circulate through pores and skin cells quickly.
Third-party lab tests aren’t currently available on the Hemptouch website, but they are available on request. They source the hemp extract from hemp grown under strict EU regulation. It is unrefined, full-spectrum and serves as the main ingredient in their entire skincare line.
The lab analysis confirms that their products are non-GMO, free from pesticides, fungicides, herbicides, chemical fertilisers and parabens. To verify this for yourself contact Hemptouch directly. They have several other awards and certificates that show that the face cream is vegan, cruelty-free and has met standards set by the aromatherapy governing body, Aromacert.
Ease of use
The cream comes in a lightweight tube with an air-free pump to dispense it. I found it simple to use and easy to apply directly to my face. The pump action is smooth, and because it is air-free, it delivers the product smoothly and with no spluttering.
Once you’ve applied 1 or 2 pumps to your hands, rub it gently into your face, neck or affected area. I was happy to see that the cream quickly absorbed into my skin, leaving it feeling cool and refreshed.
Fragrance
The grassy fustiness of the hemp extract slightly overpowers the gentle aroma of the essential oils. The smell was pleasant, but not what you usually expect from a skincare lotion. The scent lingers on your skin for a while after so it is worth pairing it with other naturally fragranced products.
Potency/Effectiveness
My skin is combination with oily T zone and dry cheeks. I was concerned that because Hemptouch says that the cream balances out oily skin, it might dry out my cheeks and cause irritation. I was surprised to find that it suited me perfectly; it soaked up the excess oil and moistened the dry patches.
From the moment I applied it to my face, I knew I had found something special. It is beautifully soothing and just what you need first thing in the morning. As it absorbs into your skin, you can feel it working. Even when it is completely absorbed the cooling, revitalising sensation stays.
Value for Money
The price of a 50 ml container is about £29. I would like to know the total amount of CBD included in each product, but that wasn’t clear on the website or documentation. Nearly £30 is a lot for 50mls of face cream but in my opinion completely worth it.
Once I had used it for an extended period, I began to get regular comments about how healthy my skin looked. It works from the moment you put it on and then continues to soothe, soften and tighten afterwards.
